Halloween isn’t always about having the most expensive costume, but rather one that takes creativity and skill to make. This is especially fun for youngsters, who like to help in the crafting of the costume. Cardboard boxes allow the creativity of a child or adults to be near limitless.

The cardboard you use is already probably in a rectangular shape- so making a car or vehicle is a natural solution! You can easily fashion the box into a vehicle by attaching two suspenders to both sides of the box, so that it can be worn if you cut a hole in the middle. Within 15 minutes, you can have a fully functional and decorated vehicle ready to wear immediately.

Making a robot with a cardboard box is extremely easy. All you need to do is attach something metallic over the surface of the box- such as tin foil or metallic paint. In both instances you will not have to spend over $10 in total for the costume, and the end result is something that looks flashy and creative.

Cars and robots sure do provide a lot of fun, but you may notice that many of the other kids probably already have such costumes. instead of going with the crowd, you could pick something outlandish such as a tree. A tree is actually a bit more work, and requires a specific type of box. Once you cut it right, you can decorate the box with leaves you find from real trees.

Drawing inspiration from a cartoon is just fine. One cartoon that has swept the American nation involves a character named SpongeBob. This character is known for his square pants, which just so happens to be the shape of a cardboard box! You can fasten the box to the body with fasteners, and then draw a suit much like the one from the cartoon. Dress up in a yellow shirt, and the resemblance will be striking.

If you feel up to the task, you can make a truly amazing Transformers outfit from a simple cardboard box. Some of the more intricate designs found on the Internet are created from multiple boxes, have been painted, and overall look like something any young boy would want to wear. It doesn’t get much cooler than walking around in a Transformers costume, and it’s not something you will find in stores.

Closing Comments

This Halloween, focus on having a great costume instead of just going with the normal hustle and bustle. The best costume out there isn’t the most expensive, but rather one that you have put time into and truly enjoy.

Drawing creativity from your inner depths isn’t always easy when pressured to make a unique Halloween costume. Other times it is much easier to go out and simply buy a costume- leaving you at a touch decision on buying one, or simply saving money and making your own.

If you decide to make your own costume, the problem comes to be deciding on which costume design you should make. You can often draw inspiration from popular culture- such as movies, books, magazines, and trivia that has become popular in the past year. When the movie Pirates Of The Caribbean came out, you can bet there were many pirate costumes on the following Halloween.

Drawing inspiration from cartoons is another way to find a good costume to make or buy. Anime, what’s known as cartoons for adults, is a wonderful display of creativity and art in itself. You can copy off the anime characters you see and make your own costumes. They will be some of the most unique and most complimented costumes at a costume party, but you will also probably not have many who will recognize who you are resembling.

Don’t forget that there are always chains of clothing stores that carry Halloween costumes. You can let others take care of all the work and simply buy the costume outright. It is going to be many times more expensive than what you would pay if you had made the costume, but then again you might not have the expertise, time, or materials to do that. If you have the money, this is a great choice.

The Internet is going to be a helpful tool when you are looking for sources of inspiration. There are of course the many retailers who carry Halloween costumes all around the world. There are also websites that show how do it yourself artists create their own costumes. Spending a few hours on the Internet searching for ideas or tutorials on making costumes will prove to be very helpful. Just remember to make each costume your own- and unique to show your own flare!

You won’t have to spend money to make a good costume. You can make virtually any genre of costume simply by using household objects. Mostly, this method is best for younger kids who don’t have a big selection of costumes. You can also get away with having young children wear cute costumes that make great costumes- something you won’t be able to do as they mature and develop a sense of pride.

Final Thoughts

Halloween is another fun holiday in which you can have endless amounts of entertainment in making a costume, as well as wearing it and showing it off to friends and family. The candy is just an extra treat on an already entertaining holiday.
